Every year the Pass Christian Middle School Renaissance Committee selects a theme for the new school year. This year’s theme is #youmatter. To welcome the PCMS Pirates, #youmatter activities were the focus of each class. After a fun Welcome to PCMS rally, students and teachers created colorful bags to reflect their individual personalities. Throughout the day, students watched short video clips reflecting our acronym MATTER - Mind, Attitude, Talent, Teamwork, Experience, and Responsibility. Students and teachers discussed the benefits of a positive and safe environment at PCMS where each person matters and wrote positive affirmations about fellow students to be placed in each person’s bag.

On the second day of school, a Renaissance Rally for each grade level was held to recognize student accomplishments from the 2014-2015 school year. Honor Roll students were rewarded with Pirate Privilege Cards and PCMS #gradesmatter T-Shirts. Each nine weeks, new Honor Roll students will be rewarded with this T-Shirt at a Renaissance Celebration. Students will also be recognized and rewarded for other accomplishments like 50 days of perfect attendance, 50 days without a discipline referral, and NFL (No Failure League) – students without any F’s on their progress reports. Although Pass Christian Middle School administrators, teachers, and students work hard and improve daily, they also strive to reward each person’s improvements and accomplishments with recognition and celebrations.
