Each year Pass Christian Middle School promotes food drives so that all Pass Christian families may have a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. Excitement filled the cafeteria during the week before Thanksgiving break as students and teachers competed to collect nonperishable goods, as well as money for perishable Thanksgiving food items for the Pass Christian Food Bank.

One of the food drives, sponsored by the PCMS Student Council, was the annual Turkey Teacher contest. During lunchtime students and teachers donated money and voted for a teacher to wear the turkey costume on November 18th.   Sixth grade English teacher, Mr. John Tanner, won the honor with $102.20.   PCMS Band director, Mr. Kevin Shira, was second with $68.46.   A total of $232.12 was donated to the Pass Christian Food Bank.  Special thanks to the Student Council sponsors, Ms. Savannah Rishel and Mrs. Charlene Stephens.

The other food drive was sponsored by the PCMS Beta Club, which promoted a contest between homerooms to see who could collect the most canned goods.  Ms. Candace Lewis’ 7th grade social studies class came in first place for collecting 83 items.   PCMS students and teachers collected over 300 items of nonperishable goods for the Pass Christian Food Bank.  Special thanks to the Beta Club sponsors, Ms. Candace Lewis and Mrs. Michele Rogers.
