Cognia

Cognia Accreditation Process: The Pass Christian Public School District is accredited by Cognia formerly known as AdvancEd. The Cognia district accreditation process examines the whole institution – the programs, the cultural context, and the community of stakeholders – to determine how well the parts work together to meet the needs of students.

To earn/renew accreditation, the district undergoes a rigorous process of self-assessment in relation to a research-based set of quality standards. We review our strategic foundational components: mission, vision, and beliefs; meet with stakeholders; scrutinize student achievement data; and prepare a strategic plan, which serves as our continuous improvement plan. The plan is regularly monitored and evaluated. Every five (5) years, a Cognia External Review Team conducts an audit, evaluates the effectiveness of the district's continuous school improvement efforts, recognizes powerful practices, and makes recommendations for future growth. The most recent review took place in August 2023. While in the district, the lead evaluator met with district personnel and conducted site visitations including classroom observations.  We would like to thank all those who participated in the process. During the 2023 school year, the district will begin its five-year planning process which includes community members, parents, teachers, students, and other stakeholders who share their perspectives regarding school/district effectiveness and offer input into the development of the plan. We look forward to working with our community to seek new opportunities for improvement and advancement.
